Our mission

To curate custom tours and create unforgettable experiences that will be cherished for a lifetime. We believe in what we do, and that is why we are committed to welcoming visitors from all over the world to Kigamboni and its surrounding attractions, offering you the chance to explore and enjoy this unique destination.

Our vision

To become the leading eco-cultural tourism company while sustainably preserving and promoting our cultural heritage.

Our purpose

To promote Swahili culture in Kigamboni and Dar es Salaam, utilizing our material culture and language to improve local livelihoods, preserve cultural heritage, and support environmental conservation.

How we achieve this

Craft, sales and education

  • Empowering local artisans to produce quality products.
  • Through our local souvenir centre, we help local artists present their products to tourists and manage their sales.
  • Advising artisans on how to enhance the value of their products.
  • Teaching students and youth to care for the environment, believing that an educated community is key to a sustainable future.

Subira Shedafa

Subira Shedafa, a graduate in Archaeology and Tourism from the University of Dar es Salaam, founded Kigamboni Eco-Cultural Tours in 2021. Her passion for Swahili culture led her to organize local people and guides to promote the lesser-known Swahili culture along the coast of the Indian Ocean, emphasizing sustainable cultural tourism in Kigamboni.
